Overview:
In order to meet the needs of a wider range of learners, we have expanded Inclusion Services to include a Learner Specific Pathway (LSP). This pathway primarily serves individuals with mild to moderate cognitive and developmental profiles. It is a highly personalized curriculum designed to maximize opportunities for students to participate with their general education peers and to be valued members of the AISJ community. The student program includes academic, life, social, and vocational skills that will enable students to fulfill their personal academic goals to become as independent as possible. This will include futures (transition) planning as a key aspect of helping students to be prepared for postsecondary life.
Learner Specific Pathway (Math):
The Learner Specific Pathway Math course provides students with functional mathematical skills to support students' success and independence beyond school. Curriculum is tailored to meet individual student needs and identified goals from their Individualized Learning Plan.
Learner Specific Pathway (English):
The Learner Specific Pathway English course provides students with functional language and communication skills to support students' success and independence beyond school. Curriculum is tailored to meet individual student needs and identified goals from their Individualized Learning Plan.
Learner Specific Pathway (Futures’ Planning):
The Learner Specific Pathway Futures’ Planning course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop social skills, daily independent living skills, executive function skills, and pre-vocational skills. Curriculum is tailored to meet individual student needs and identified goals from their Individualized Learning Plan.
Learner Specific Pathway (Social Studies):
The Learner Specific Pathway Social Studies course provides students with functional content area skills and knowledge in the area of Social Studies to support students' success and independence beyond school. Curriculum is tailored to meet individual student needs and identified goals from their Individualized Learning Plan.
Learner Specific Pathway (Science):
The Learner Specific Pathway Science course provides students with functional skills and knowledge in the area of science to support students' success and independence beyond school. Curriculum is tailored to meet individual student needs and identified goals from their Individualized Learning Plan.
Modified Courses: Any course that is identified with an M following the title indicates that the curriculum expectations have been modified from the general education course described in this course catalog. Modifications will be developed in partnership with the LSP Lead Teacher and the General Education teacher to create coursework that is accessible and engaging and meets the goals identified in the student’s Individualized Learning Plan.
Prerequisites:
Complete and up-to-date (within the last three years) Psych-Ed Assessment with both cognitive and academic standard measures and/or previous evidence of prior interventions.
Individualized Learning Plan which outlines goals, futures’ planning, and needed modifications.
