How can I sculpt out my fantasy world, Ecoya, the myths, animals and the characters within my artwork?
As a fan of the fantasy genre, I have always wanted to create a fictional world myself. So to bring forth my vision, I used detailed illustration with a touch of realism.
Throughout my portfolio, I employed repetition and revision of creatures, landmarks, and symbols to create coalescence. In order to increase the believability of my world, I carefully designed my characters, animals, and other objects before they appear in my final work. Through revisions, literal depictions of Ecoya became more metaphorical in the last few pieces of my work. The two characters shown were trained from a young age to become household troops of the royalty. Contrasting the free roaming traveller, they are trapped in their environment, indicated by dark, heavy colors and symbols like the lone floating island.
