How can I redesign tarot cards to be “better” or truely visually express their meanings?
Tarot cards represent your future or your past, however some people don't understand the symbols. I redesigned the cards to make them easier for an audience to comprehend. I practiced facial proportions and hands to make the subject matter more realistic. I repeated symbols to make connections throughout my works. In some of my works I tried to give the feeling of “pain” and “broken” so I used a darker colour scheme and different textures to make the audience feel these emotions. I repeated the composition of the traditional card layout instead of making a new composition to make it connecting more to the traditional cards. I experimented with different media, I used watercolour, and acrylic for the same object than applied this technique to artworks. I experimented in illustration styles, I then created cohesion by using the same styles for some of my artworks. I practiced colour pencils with watercolour, the combination of these two medias allowed me to have more control. I spent time on practicing and experimenting on the colours of skin tones in different atmospheres of artworks to make artworks more real and more expressive.
