How can I visually explore my cultural experiences of Hong Kong and India through a synthesis of materials and subjects?
I developed symbols of my cultural experiences from Hong Kong and India, slide 6 and 7. Slide 1 and 2 explored the MTR of Hong Kong, slide 1 informed my revised piece in slide 2 where I practiced drawing hands and myself to add a more personalised perspective. Slide 5 repeats this concept of including myself and symbols of the cultures, I spent time revising the composition of the Hong Kong map in the background. My practice of hand’s, slide 1, informed slide 5 where I used this subject matter to express my collection of objects from these different cultures. For Slide 3, 4 and 9, I took pictures for reference, then practiced and experimented with different medias. I decided on using loose pen lines to represent the busyness of Hong Kong and India. In slide 6, I experimented with different compositions of a tiger and linked it to slide 7 through its color palette and symbolism representing India and Hong Kong, independently and together. In slide 10 I combined symbols of Hong Kong and India through food and cutlery which developed through revision and practice.
