How can I visually explore and express the pain that is caused by toxic love?
My investigation visually explored the ugly side of a love employing symbols such as the gas mask (slide 3, 9). I practiced drawing different facial expressions over exaggerating feeling hurt (slide 1). I experimented with different media such as pencil, color pencils, charcoal, and ink pen (slide 2, 3) helping guide my color scheme for the artworks. I used pink and purple tones throughout my investigation (slide 1, 5, 7) to represent love and romance which was contradicted by the subject matter. My artist practice of digitally drawing required me to first sketch work in pencil then further revise when I created it in color digitally. This practice allowed me to create the best composition for a piece (slide 1, 5, 6). This investigation has allowed me to further practice my digital drawing skills showing growth in my ability to create more realism in my pieces (slide 2). The practice of drawing female facial proportions was employed in slide 7, using a rotten apple to symbolize toxic love and an emotionless face representing her losing herself.
