The Bronze DofE Award is offered in at AGS in Year 9.
There is a massive choice of activities that count towards a DofE programme
Activities could be something that you are already doing or completely new
All activities must be outside of normal school curriculum. Lunch and after school clubs and activities are fine
The activity should be done for approximately an hour a week
Participants need to have an assessor for each section of the award who has expertise or knowledge in the activity, but cannot be a relative
The Physical, Skills and Volunteering sections must be undertaken once a week, with two of these sections to be completed over three months, and one over six months. Although students will be assisted in selecting appropriate activities and monitored throughout the delivery of the Award, completion of these sections will primarily be the responsibility of the students taking part
For programme ideas, see the documents on the Sections page here
To complete the award there are three weekends of expeditions which must be undertaken; Training, Practice and Qualifying. These weekends are detailed on the calendar here.
The cost for the Bronze award is £240
£36 is nonrefundable as it goes towards the cost of your enrolment with the Award Scheme
£203 covers the cost of your expeditions including the training and quantifying expeditions. These expeditions are staffed by experienced qualified outdoors instructors from an Approved Activity Provider.
