Home Learning

Home learning is a great way to share, celebrate and extend your child's learning. Along with any reading books brought home, the pieces of software below form the basis of your child's weekly home learning.


Children have continued opportunities throughout the week to access these learning support software in school, however, continued practice at home ​really maximises their benefit.


Please read below to find out a bit more about each different app -


Lexia Core 5 - www.lexiacore5.com (all children have a license)

Lexia Core 5 Reading is an adaptive blended learning programme that accelerates the development of literacy skills for children of all abilities, helping them make that critical shift from learning to read to reading to learn. It is fun and interactive and children always enjoy using it in school. Children can win certificates as they move through the levels, which we present in our Celebration Assemblies.

Reading is the key to unlocking almost every other aspect of learning and the importance of children reading at, or as close as possible to, their chronological reading age cannot be understated. On top of reading the home reading books sent home, if there is only time to focus on one other piece of home learning then please make it Lexia!​

Doodle Maths - www.doodlelearning.com (Reception, Year 1 & 2 only)

Th​is​ award-winning digital work programme ​is ​designed to boost the maths confidence and ability of children aged 4​+. Filled with thousands of interactive exercises and games, it explores numerical reasoning and builds problem-solving skills, giving children core skills they can use in the classroom and beyond.​ With every question answered, ​the software learns more about each ​child’s understanding, building a work programme to improve their ability and confidence. Fully curriculum-aligned for KS1 ​pupil​s, the programme is the perfect homework partner for ​both ​catching-up or getting ahead in maths​. Pupils have access to both the Doodle Maths and Doodle Tables element of this app.​​

Century Tech - www.century.tech (Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 only)

Century Tech is another fantastic learning app that covers learning in Maths, English and Science. We tend to use it mainly for maths and SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar), but children can learn any content they wish. The Century Tech software cleverly identifies gaps in knowledge​, p​inpoints and addresses misconceptions​ and p​ersonalises content, questions and pathways for every learner​. Teachers may set work via Century Tech, but even if no work is set, children can select their own learning and the software will pitch contect ​at the correct level.

Google Classroom​ -

On occasion, some ​home learning will be set ​by teachers ​via Google Classroom. ​Google Classroom​ provides a central location to communicate with pupils, ask questions, and make assignments. T​eachers ​also set work through the classroom for learning in school.

How much home learning should my child do?


All of these apps are designed to be used in bite sized chunks of around 10 to 20 minutes. ​Little and often is the key!
