Community and Performing Arts

The Community Hub

Greenwood Academy prides itself as being central to a fantastic community. Since 2014 we have been delighted to provide our facilities for local groups and organisations to make use of through a range of Arts, Sports and Fitness activities. Our fantastic new purpose built sports block means we can currently provide evening and weekend access to a large Sports Hall and a Dance Studio. With our state of the art theatre facilities we are always interested in hearing from groups wishing to hire our facilities and utilise our expertise in staging their next event.

Our Community Programme

The community we serve is a very special community and as an academy we take every opportunity to involve our wonderful community. This takes many forms and includes all sections of the community be it for our annual Family Fun Day with activities for all ages, our Santa on the Vale event which is particularly exciting for little ones, or our Christmas Lunch for older residents to come together and enjoy. To be such a large part of our community is a privilege and we continue to look for ways to work with other agencies to continue to grow the opportunities.

Performing Arts

Throughout our history we have had a rich performing arts provision which continues to flourish. Over recent years we have secured the Columba Trophy for the best production in Birmingham numerous times and we continue to attract scores of students both on and off stage. Our community talent show Castle Vale's Got Talent has provided a platform for many young performers and performing arts forms the backdrop of much of our community programme.

In 2017 Greenwood Academy marked our 50th Anniversary with a series of events including a documentary and a huge celebration. Click the logo for the Facebook community and have a look at the documentary on YouTube.
