Remarkable Futures: Careers Provision
At AET we believe that an excellent education paves the way for our young people to go on to lead remarkable lives. Our ambition is to ensure that pupils in our academies are given every opportunity to fulfil their potential, broaden their horizons, develop passions, make informed decisions and become active, prosperous and successful citizens in the world around them.
Our careers provision at AET is built around the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, the internationally researched framework which defines a world class careers education. The eight benchmarks are central to the DfE Careers Strategy ‘Making the most of everyone’s Skills and Talents’ (2017) and the updated Statutory Guidance ‘Careers Guidance and Access for Education and Training Providers’ (2021) for schools. These benchmarks are:
A stable careers programme
Learning from career and labour market information
Addressing the needs of each pupil
Linking curriculum learning to careers
Encounters with employers & employees
Experiences of workplaces
Encounters with Further Education & Higher Education
Personal Guidance
Making sure we have a consistent focus on careers, pathways and enrichment plays an important role in helping us to realise our vision for remarkable lives. At AET this work is led by our National Leader for Pathways, Sam Robinson.
Evidencing progress towards achievement of these standards, and in compliance with statutory requirements, each AET academy has their own designated careers leader and a dedicated careers section of their website that provides, as a minimum, the following information:
The name and contact details of the academy Careers Leader
Details of the academy Careers Programme
The Provider Access Policy for each academy, explaining how local education and higher-level skills training providers have access to pupils to inform them about approved technical education qualifications and apprenticeships
