AET hires “exceptional talent” as new Director of Education

Deputy CEO of Inspiration Trust to join AET family

AET is today announcing the appointment of Claire Heald as their Director of Education, a new role that will oversee the school improvement and performance of all 58 primary, secondary and SEN schools.

Claire is currently Deputy Chief Executive at Inspiration Trust, leading on educational strategy, standards and performance. An expert on curriculum, and teacher and leader development, she has also held roles as Director of School Improvement, Executive Principal and Principal at Inspiration Trust.

Claire was the founding Principal of the Jane Austen College, a free school in Norwich and is also a National Leader of Education.

Rebecca Boomer-Clark, Chief Executive of AET said:

“AET has come a very long way over the last few years and this next phase will be about driving hard on school improvement so that every child has a brilliant teacher in every classroom. This is about educational excellence at scale – it’s the single most important thing we can do as educators.

“I’m very pleased that someone of Claire’s exceptional talent is joining the team. She is an extremely experienced educational leader and knows just what it takes to not only turn schools around but for them to become world-class. I’m excited about this next stage of AET’s development and how we work together as a team to deliver a truly remarkable future for all of our schools.”

Claire Heald said:

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining AET at such an exciting time in the organisation’s development. I look forward to joining a great team of people and being part of taking AET’s education strategy forward. It is a great privilege to be taking on the role of Director of Education and have the opportunity to make a difference to so many young people’s lives.”

Claire is a trustee at The Difference and a Fellow for the Centre for Education and Youth. She will join AET at the start of the new academic year.
