Depression can be described as a lonely and isolating existence. Getting through a day can be complex and overwhelming. Depression is known to destroy any self confidence and self esteem and restrains any feelings of happiness and enjoyment of daily life.
There can be many symptoms of Depression but the most common include:
Deep sadness, loneliness and/or worthiness;
Uncontrollable anger, unable to contain feelings of rage;
Feeling of tiredness, been lethargic and lacking energy;
Insomnia, not getting to sleep or waking up with intense worries and paranoia, and inablility to return to any rest or sleep;
Lack of concentration and poor memory;
Poor diet leading to weight loss or weight gain – not caring about healthy diet or sugar to propel your energy levels;
Menopause where intense hormonal changes are affecting body and mind;
Lack of direction in job, unable to work or hold down a job, or, unable to make important decisions at work, not managing time or role effectively;
Feeling worthless, guilty and/or ashamed leading to low self worth;
Thoughts of ending your life, feelings of suicide.
These are the most common feelings associated with Depression and sometimes it can just boil down to strong feeling of tiredness, hopelessness and low mood.
Depression can affect a person’s family as well as socially with personal friends and work colleagues which affects their employment. Many people suffering depression can just about exist, trying to mask the low mood, or worthlessness and this can exist a long length of time some even manage to go through life without ever asking for help.
Not fully understanding the feelings of low moods, etc and believe that these feelings, emotions are untreatable whilst others who have been diagnosed with depression are existing on medication to numb the low mood and loneliness thus finding a way to cope with Depression in this way.
