We are learning more about how gratitude lists gives us peace of mind and a better night’s sleep. This does work well for me. And yet what works brilliantly is paving your next day focus too! We have gained the learning of writing out our weekly/monthly goals allowing focus and aspiration, but what about our everyday focus of moving forward in every aspect of that day shouldn't it be top of our list too?
When you do your gratitude lists near the end of each evening, what about a fresh page also for the day ahead?
With our notebook in hand take 5 minutes and write down the key elements of how you want your next day to look like. What are the key outcomes? How do you want them to look like? Visualise how you want to see the ideal outcome.
Once completed you will have a clear thought of what tomorrow entails and a sense of trust, a sense of promise occurs.
When you wake up, the thought process is already there and taking another few minutes to re-read your notes is ideal, be it first thing in bed or on way to work and putting them in the present frame of mind. The important point is focus the mind and ensure the key outcomes from the visualisation takes place again.
It’s the best quick method to pave the ideal outcome of your everyday positive gain! And in some cases the realisation is that baby steps are required, actualised in achieving the overall goal. With writing and visualising gives a clearer perspective!
Write down exactly how you want your day to happen.
Ex - Study for interview - ‘I’m feeling so positive for my interview tomorrow. I know that they are going to love my ideas and answers and know that I am the ideal candidate for the role.’
Ex- New Client pitch - ‘I’m so pleased that we hit our all the key goals for them in the presentation and they are so excited to proceed with us. My boss is so impressed with this too.’
Ex- Time with daughter -'both Olivia and I enjoyed our talk this evening, we connected well and she is more open to trying the drama class again.’
Ex - Relationship with partner - ‘I’m so happy that Erica and I had a relaxing night, having fun and great conversation, we are connecting more and more.’
Writing this down exactly allows you to visualise exactly how you want it to happen giving it the energy and best mindset.
Once finished go about this exactly how you wrote and visualised it.
Great results will happen as it sets you in the right frame of mind with such positive focus..
The more every day practice of this the better the outcomes!
It’s worth the extra few minutes of energy and focus to gain great satisfaction and ultimately success in our key roles of everyday life! It works!
Ain't that the truth. I have four of them and to say they bring such affection and love into our family is an understatement!
They can be so hyper and need love especially first thing each day, sure to push you over with great excitement bringing such love into your life yet, in turn be the source of great torture too.. obviously in a very positive sense of course. You know they need stimulation to get through their day, just like us!
Once they have had their daily quota of getting out and about they are their most contented selves! I have learned that it's not the exercise that they only require but the very need to explore and use their nose to the ground is the ultimate gift each day! Although getting your dog out for the hour every day is the best possible objective for any dog owner it doesn’t have to be quite that especially when your morning is hectic! And if it is only just 20 minutes of allowing them to run around in the park or beach they are grateful. It's the psychological need to stimulate their senses.. checking out their competition, what they can find, what they are most attracted too. Then once found, the need to mark this territory as their own, yes lifting their leg and therefore branding their space! Lol
And, oh so how we can relate to both the need to be active first thing to shape with the positive frame of mind!
Then when we are out in the main stream of our work routine, finishing the report, the deadline or presentation at the meeting, its all about marking our territory, showing our key skills winning over the boss or the client, bringing them into our way of thinking! That need to ensure we reach the end of the day having completed the zillion tasks before boarding the train, bus or behind the wheel facing traffic once again... Always chasing the sense of achievement, getting the balance right.
The biggest downside of this day is the use of energy, the stress that is conjured up within each process and level of self talk that's used should it not go to plan or finding fault or blame within ourselves ie what we could have done better and how Matthew was so much better at communicating that to the director than me! Such stress, worry/anxiety manifests on top of the previous three days, always measuring up against our colleagues in the boardroom and customers, putting a spin of how we could have done better, achieved more. Yes quite the merry-go-round, the consistent self analysing and finish our day deflated, the criticism of self continues and we feel that we just have to get on with it and ground hog day is on repeat!
Why are we so hard on ourselves? We are only doing the best that we can do with the resources that we have day in, day out and yet we bully ourselves within our heads constantly! And once home to your dog or our 4 dogs, yes I know! The sense of calm and happiness once again descends and if going out for another 20 minutes walk with the dogs is required you find its the best 20 minutes to get back to you with all the layers peeling away and realisation of all is well in the world, its just us and our dogs again. Quite the feeling!
I have a recurring problem of dry eye which occurred again at the weekend. This was probably one of the worst I have experienced of late. The sharp intense pain of discomfort like a sharp object itching the cornea and this can occur in both eyes. It was constant bathing with cold water relieving to some degree until I managed some eye ointment to calm the irriation alongside pain relief which is the routine to resolve the problem. I had to wear the dark shades as my vision can remain blurred for a few days and cancelling some client appointments.
In the waking hours I thought how do people deal with such extreme pain on a daily basis. The physical pain is somewhat relieved with the aid of medication however what about the emotional pain within and what I experience with others in my role. The intense pain that is overwhelming, some experience complete despair, fear, lack of self worth and self belief. Dealing with such stress, anger and denial can cause such affliction and problems with your self identity.
We wake up each day with a set of thoughts, beliefs and self doubt that is on the repeat cycle and drives us through our day! Allowing others to identify with the cheerful, positive and even confident self that we show to the world, dealing with each challenge as the day unfolds. We consciously deal with the negative emotions and able to cope keeping ourselves busy and task driven.
The deep emotions that lie beneath the surface and colour every thought as we progress through the day. When they are the positive they are such a driving force and our days are conquered well and happy to get along with our routine, everything is made easier! When the opposite is the case and can be the very negative emotions, such can hinder our response and aggravate our performance at the point in time. As a result over the period of time this negativiity deepens and one can only identify which in turn hinders our outlook, overall motivation and having an impact on achieving our short and long term goals!
We find through regular exercise, nutrition, friendships and good family support keeps most on the right side and sadly for many that experience the negative emotion cannot relate and falter and leading to further despair.
My style of coaching is an effective process of thorough analysis in finding the root of problem, where the client is at and the one, two or more negative emotions that hinder their life. Where an opportunity is presented and if the state is the negative self feeling low/depression or sadness, it doesn't have any effect as dealing with that day as it comes is enough! Once these negative beliefs, emotions and any limiting decisions are processed with effective techniques such as timeline, hypnosis and anchoring the next steps are set in motion. Positive new strategies, tactical plans are put in place, future pacing new desired goal, all put in motion with tasking for the coming days and week ahead with support available should it be required. The journey of goal setting and achievement in recognising the small wins towards the more determined positive self and a better outcome!
This process worked extremely well for me some years ago. I now enjoy teaching and coaching these valuable insights to others and I am a successful business woman now helping others find their true value. Consider that with the right set of beliefs put in motion alongside getting rid of the negative emotional baggage, any person will be transformed. I was that negative self who had enormous lack of self belief with deep entrenched negative emotions which I had carried around for my entire life occurring first from the age of 7 when my brother of 8 died quite suddenly. The process of losing my dear sibling, my best friend and the road of my own beginning of blame, shyness and self doubt began and a journey of overcoming anxiety and negative self took place. A story that I will share another day and which I can happily relate to now as I am the confident and happier me with wanting to educate and help others with their lack of self to enable them to walk taller each day carrying less on their shoulders becoming their more complete self.
