Students are Expected to:
Be in the class because they genuinely want to be
This is an elective at a magnet school, and there are often more students who want to take the class than we have space for.
Do the Assigned Work
Complete two (2) projects per quarter. All projects are due a week before the Quarter midpoint, and a week before the end of the quarter.
Complete 2 project journals per quarter. Submit completed project journals with each sewing project.
Develop Professional Skills
Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Assume shared responsibility for facilities, tools and supplies
Use studio time effectively
Reflect on learning experiences and applying insights to the future
Look for, catch, and fix my own mistakes
Revise and fix my work based on feedback
Persevere to accomplish difficult tasks
Work collaboratively with others.
Advocate for themselves. Familiarize themselves with the specifics of their own accommodations, IEP, or 504 regarding extra time on assignments, and late work.
As per ACT’s grading policies, communicate with teachers about late work, regardless of the reason for being late. In order to receive an extension, students must submit the request in writing BEFORE the due date outlining a specific reason or expect an IE (insufficient evidence) on the work. See this handy flowchart about asking for extensions.
