Music is a beauty of form, harmony, and way of expressing emotions. It dates from a long time, and for as long as humanity can remember, it has been a source of entertainment and pleasure. But one question soon appeared—how could music be remembered, be chanted by the future generations, enjoying it as much as their ancestors? Well, that question was answered in 1887 by Emile Berliner, who invented the gramophone—a music recording and playing device. Our project called ‘The Golden Gramophone’ had the goal to recreate one of these emblematic inventions of the 19th century. We used flat records made of glass, through which a small groove etched into the disks' round surface. The grooves were placed underneath the arm on the gramophone where a needle read and transmitted the sound vibrations to the sound box, which then went out through the funnel, where the sound was amplified and projected. Otherwise said, we have created a working gramophone by adding a touch of creativity and a lot of character.
