For this year’s Science Fair we decided to make a project about fractals, presenting them visually. Our initial idea was to create wooden based fractals but due to the unusual circumstances, we had to change our plans. We decided to create a fractal using oil paint. We took a lot of different approaches. We tried using salt and water paint, water and oil paint. We put a drop of water on a paper saturated with paint and we dropped paint on a paper that has been saturated with water and so on and so forth. We failed a lot of times but we finally managed to reach our goal - making paint spread through water by creating its own path. This path was branch-like due to the difference in viscosity of the two substances. As such, it was a perfect example of a fractal.
