AF HSMS COVID-19 POLICY REMINDERS & UPDATES
Hello AF Hartford Summit Families,
As we continue to navigate COVID-19 in our community, it is incredibly important that everyone continues to implement and support the COVID-19 policies in place to keep our school community as safe as possible. We have seen an uptick in students being sent to school with a variety of symptoms. Please do not send your scholar to school if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms until they have taken a PCR, Rapid, or 2 at home tests taken 24 hours apart. At-home tests are available at the school per request in limited supply.
Please be sure to review the policies below and contact the main office (860-695-6760 or hartfordsummitMS@achievementfirst.org) if your student falls into any of these categories.
If your student has tested positive for COVID-19 via an at home, rapid, or PCR test, you must do the following:
Quarantine your student for 5 days regardless of vaccination status. Day 6-10 they will be required to wear a high filtration mask (N95) which we can provide onsite. If your student refuses, you will be required to pick them up within 30 minutes.
Submit our absence/covid-19 notification form here and send a copy of your test results or test to the main office.
You can determine your students return date using our in-house calculator found here.
If your student was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 (outside of our school), you must do the following:
If your student IS vaccinated and not experiencing any symptoms: they can return to school the following day. You should still test your scholar 5 days after exposure and immediately quarantine if they begin to experience symptoms.
If your student is unvaccinated and not experiencing symptoms: they must quarantine for five days after the last date of exposure and wear a high filtration masks from Day 6 - Day 10. If they receive a negative test result taken 5 days after the last date of exposure, they do not need to wear the filtration masks from Day 6 - Day 10.
If your student is experiencing symptoms and WAS exposed: individuals are presumed positive until they have received a negative test result taken 5 days after the last date of exposure. They must quarantine for five days and wear a high filtration masks from Day 6 - Day 10.
If your student is experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19 (and was NOT exposed), you must do the following:
Receive a Positive Test: Quarantine your student for 5 days regardless of vaccination status from the date symptoms started. Day 6-10 they will be required to wear a high filtration mask (N95) which we can provide onsite. If your student refuses, you will be required to pick them up within 30 minutes.
Receive a Negative Test (PCR, Rapid, or 2 at home tests taken 24 hours apart): Confirmed fever-free for 24 hours without use of medication AND is experiencing overall improvement in symptoms, they can return the following day.
No Test: Quarantine for 5 days after symptoms began and they must continue to wear a high filtration (N95, KN95, KF94) mask for days 6-10. If an individual cannot wear a high filtration mask, they must isolate for 10 days.
UPDATE: We are accepting negative PCR/Lab confirmed RAPID tests or two at home test (taken 24 hours apart) results. Results MUST be sent to the school prior to your student returning or with them when they arrive.
Awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, you must:
Wait until you receive their NEGATIVE results before sending them to school.
Calculate return to school date: You can determine your scholars' return date based on their scenario using the calculator found here.
It is incredibly important that you do NOT send your student to school if they are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID recently, or have recently been exposed to a positive individual.
