Regulation Stations
Introducing Regulation Stations! Students may become dysregulated in the classroom, but may not necessarily need to be moved to another setting such as the R&R room. Therefore, we created individualized regulation stations in the comfort of our own classrooms!
Why regulation stations?
To honor our students by providing a safe space within their classrooms to regulate mentally, physically and emotionally
To provide regulation tools for students to help reduce stress, calming down, recharging and practicing strategies to regulate their emotions
This space in your classrooms is for proactive, self regulating strategies and not for punishment or exclusion

It’s important that expectations, protocols and procedures are established around the use of the Regulation Stations within the classroom. Modeling how to use various coping strategies and how to appropriately utilize the sensory tools is a critical step in setting students up for success. Regulation tools should be rolled out slowly, starting out small and building up how many tools are available for students. In addition, discussing with students when the appropriate time to use the Regulation Station is and when it is not, what it looks like you use the space safely and Expectations around time should also be established, such as how much time to spend at the Regulation Station (5-10 minutes is recommended), creating sign-in and sign-out sheets for some of the tools and scheduling in individualized Regulation Station breaks for specific students, as needed.
