Introduction

Watch the video and

1. Discuss: why might we need a map? (Stadium map, Fire Drill map, Ward Parkway shopping center map, Walking Trail map etc.)

2. Parents, show your student how/why you use an app like Google Maps to help you find a place.

3. Try using PlanYourRoom (or a pencil and paper) to draw out your bedroom plan.

Location in space

À gauche = left

À droite = right

Activity:

  1. Parents, practice finding left and right with your student.

  2. Then, hide treat for them somewhere in the house (no peeking while you hide it, lol).

  3. Finally, give them directions to find it: go straight, go left, go right, etc.

  4. Now, ask them to do the same for you.

Location in space and on a map

Parents: Try something similar like mapping your back yard, garden, neighborhood or apartment complex. Be sure to add a title and a key to your map. (Parents, Click on each link for an example and instructions.)

Cat in the Hat and the Treasure Map
