Learn to play an instrument or continue to work on the basics.

Establish characteristic tone, beginning note range, basic rhythms & counting, articulations and dynamics as well as the skill to play with an ensemble. 

Discuss your instrument choice with Mrs. Johnson as you register for Beginning Band.

(This way I can have an instrument and books ready for each student.)

You've mastered all the basics - now let's continue mastering your instrument by improving technique, learning more rhythms, styles of music and performance opportunities.

Completion of Beginning Band & Teacher Approval or Audition required.

Let's focus on the percussion section.  

Learn all the basics, with special focus on the snare drum and mallets.  Make music incorporating all the percussion instruments.  Play as an ensemble and with the bands.

Percussionists are welcome to sign up for the appropriate Band in addition to Percussion Ensemble.

• Practice pad stand or drums for practicing at home

• Piano and/or glockenspiel at home is also helpful for learning the marimba "notes"

Mallets & Percussion Ensemble  Stick bag, sticks and practice pad set can be made available to borrow/use for the year for those who do not want to purchase.
