Learn to play an instrument or continue to work on the basics.
Establish characteristic tone, beginning note range, basic rhythms, articulations and dynamics as well as the skill to play as an ensemble.
You've mastered all the basics - now let's continue mastering your instrument by improving technique, learning more rhythms, styles of music and performance opportunities.
Completion of Beginning Band or Audition required.
Let's focus on the percussion section. Learn all the basics, master the snare & make music incorporating all the percussion instruments. Play as an ensemble and with the bands.
Percussionists can sign up for both: the Percussion Ensemble & the appropriate band.
All music, method books and binders are provided.
Band classes meet twice a week for 90 minutes each.
Percussion Ensemble meets once a week for 90 minutes.
Students should plan to practice 100+ minutes a week at home to progress and learn their music. Most weeks we have mastery goals and/or practice journals which are graded.
All groups participate in a number of performances each year. These performances are required. We're a team and we need everyone at the concerts.
