Dunyvaig To Kilarrow
Suddenly, the doors of the castle swang open revealing a siloete. Unexpectedly, a loud voice errupted from the castle; " I HUGH CAMPBELL, LEAVE THIS CASTLE TO MAKE MY TRIP TOWARDS KILARROW HOUSE." some gasped as others stood straight in the noise. Without hesitation the guards whipped out the saddles and horses ready for Hugh Campbell. "FOLLOW THY LEADER!!!" My small body scrambled through crowds struggiling to find my sister. " SISTER! MARGRET! WHERE ARE YOU!?" My voice was barely heard in the crowd. "GEORGE! GEORGE!"Echoed a goice in the distance. " FOLLOW MY VOICE!" It was getting louder as I took every step. Where could my sister be?
Dunyvaig castle can be found on the shores of Lagauvulin Bay. Dunyvaig Castle was built to guard the ships belonging to the Lords of the Isles in the area from the 11th century. The Campbells of Islay (Islay Tribe) owned Dunyvaig until around 1677 when Sir Hugh Camphell abandoned the wonderful castle for Islay House (which was once called Kilarrow House).
Fun Fact!: Over the last 300 years, the castle has sadly been crumbiling into the bay. Gladly, part of the amazing structure can still be seen towering over Lagavulin bay.
