Windows 10 comes with a range of built in accessibility features listed as Ease of Access in the settings menu.Â
These settings and features are broken down into three categories: Vision, Hearing, Interaction.
The assistive feature are a part of the main windows settings selection and are listed as "Ease of Access". This can be found by clicking the Windows button (usually found in the bottom left hand corner of the screen) and then click the settings "cog". You may need to scroll down the groups of settings available but you should find the Ease of Access icon.
Display, Mouse pointer, Text cursor: The first three options allow you to customise the size and appearance of text, apps, pointers and cursors.
Magnifier: A screen magnifier that can be set to full screen, docked or lens. It can be enabled by pressing the Windows key + plus key.
Colour filters: Contains options to enable pre-set colour-blindness filters as well as options to invert the colours or convert to greyscale.
High contrast: Make text and apps easier to see by using more distinct colours.
Narrator: A screen reader that describes what's on the screen to help you navigate your device. It can be controlled by keyboard, mouse, or touch.
Audio: Make your device easier to hear or use it without any sound and show audio alerts visually.
Closed captions: Options for styling text shown when displaying audio as text. To enable closed captioning - right click on a video that is playing. If the feature is available, a CC icon will be displayed in the menu bar that appears.
Speech: Enable dictation and use your voice to type rather than a keyboard.
Keyboard: Contains options to enable various key functions including sticky keys and toggle key alerts as well as activating the on-screen keyboard.
Mouse: Allows you to control the mouse pointer with the number pad.
Eye control: Let's you use eye tracking technology to control the mouse, on-screen keyboard, and use text-to-speech. You will need a windows 10 supported eye tracking device.
