Westpark School was created from an amalgamation of Westerton School and Byron Park School in 2008. Westpark School is situated on the site of the former Westerton School, which was built in 1953. Extensive renovation was undertaken prior to the amalgamation and the school is well provided with accommodation to meet modern educational needs including a new nursery built within the existing building.
There are 9 classrooms, a nurture space known as the Belonging Beehive, space for targeted supports, a main hall and a gym hall. There is a well equipped library and we are well resourced to support the curriculum. All learners make regular use of our local environment.
Westpark School pupil’s invention wins national award
A pupil from Westpark School has been recognised at a national awards ceremony for his innovative invention designed to support children with visual impairment.
Our P6 winner and P7 runner up attended the #DigiInventors Challenge awards ceremony in Glasgow alongside their parents and teachers to celebrate their success.
The #DigiInventors Challenge is organised by the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI) as its flagship schools’ competition. It is delivered in collaboration with leading partners across Scotland in education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and healthcare.
The competition aims to inspire young people to develop creative, technology-based solutions to real-world challenges, with a particular focus on improving health and care outcomes.

This will be achieved through the highest quality teaching and learning experiences and an ethos that nurtures a love of learning as well as a strong sense of respect for the self and others. We will ensure all learners embrace opportunities for success in all areas of their lives. The aims of kindness, belonging, mastery and independence permeate all that we do.
