Suggested Teaching:

Follow the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model:

1) Model the strategy to the whole class using an accessible resource, such as a video, picture, picture book, short story.

2) Provide Guided Practice opportunities as a whole class using the/an accessible resource (mixed ability groups).

3) Provide Independent Practice of the strategy, use one of the activities in the manual and have the children apply it independently to their book.
