At Countesswells, we are deeply committed to applying the principles of GIRFEC and the UNCRC to ensure everyone in our school is able to access all aspects of the curriculum and engage in every opportunity that school provides.
Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) is a framework provided by the Scottish Government which sets out a shared language for promoting, supporting and safeguarding the wellbeing of young people.
We have embedded the principles of GIRFEC into all aspects of school life so that we are providing all children, young people and their families with the right, support at the right time.

We want all children and young people to live in an equal society, where they can be flourish and where everyone is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Children's Rights are at the heart of our approach and we work proactively to create an equal and fair culture within our school and the wider community.

Our aim is that:
"Every learner is able to access all aspects of the curriculum and engage with every opportunity that school provides. This includes the social, emotional , physical and academic opportunities.
This will look different for different learners.
Learners feel like a valued member of the school community and feel like they can take part in all aspects ofd school life in their own way.
Key adults are aware of the individual needs of each learner and the school actively provides structures, routines and motivations to meet those needs."
To achieve this aim, we use three levels of inclusive approaches - Universal, Targeted, Specialist.
At Countesswells, we utilise the CIRCLE framework to help us to evaluate, plan and develop our environments and supports, so that we are continuously improving our inclusive approaches and responding to the changing needs of our learners.
