Curriculum for Excellence aims to transform the Scottish education system and to achieve better educational outcomes for all young people. The curriculum aims to enable all young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. The concept of the curriculum has been expanded to include the totality of experiences which are planned for children and young people through their education, wherever they are being educated. It includes the ethos and life of the school as a community; curriculum areas and subjects; interdisciplinary learning; and opportunities for personal achievement. This new and all-embracing definition prompts us to expand our thinking about the totality of experiences that comprise a curriculum fit for the 21st century. It places demands on all of us to be innovative and creative in the way in which we envisage, plan and deliver an excellent curriculum.
At Airyhall we are committed to School Improvement and are constantly considering the following:
How good are we now? – This question helps us to identify our strengths and development needs in key aspects of our work and the impact our work has on learners.
and
How good can we be? – We ask this question to help us set priorities for improvement.
