Before joining Huron High School counseling team, Miss Thompson began her career in education as a 7th–9th grade English teacher in the Lansing area before transitioning into school counseling, where she discovered her passion for supporting students’ academic, emotional, and postsecondary development. Her background in both education and clinical mental health allows her to approach counseling with a holistic and compassionate lens, ensuring that each student feels seen, supported, and empowered.
As a high school counselor, Miss Thompson is committed to promoting the academic, career, and personal/social growth of all students. She works closely with students through individual meetings and small groups, provides guidance on college and career planning, and collaborates with families, teachers, and community partners to meet the diverse needs of her caseload. She is especially passionate about creating equitable opportunities and helping students build confidence as they navigate their futures.
Miss Thompson believes in meeting students where they are and helping them recognize their strengths while developing the tools needed to overcome challenges. She is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.
Outside of school, Miss Thompson enjoys traveling, exploring new cities, hiking, reading, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
