Second Grade

In this project, students will provide an opportunity to demonstrate concepts in science, engineering, and design. Through reading a story about the creation of a kite in The Kite Festival, students will be able to identify the engineering process including design, material selection, testing and improving the design. Students will create their own kite for flying. Students will showcase their kite to their classmates. Students will walk away understanding how innovations make change.

In this project, students will work in teams to design a feature of a playground that will be accessible by all students. Students will learn about a wide variety of disabilities that include physical, emotional, and developmental deficits.
