Engineering Design (1/2 Basic Tech Credit)
Build projects to solve engineering design challenges using the design process. Learn how to use CAD software to design products.
Practical Programming (1/2 Basic Tech Credit)
Build devices and program microcontrollers (Arduino) to solve real-world problems. Use sensors and motors to automate tasks.
Manufacturing and Construction (1/2 Basic Tech Credit)
Build things! Construction covers how structures are built while manufacturing is how other goods are made. Fun hands-on projects.
Energy/Power/Transportation (1/2 Basic Tech Credit)
How we use energy to do work (power) and then use that to transport people and things around the world. Fun hands-on projects.
Architectural Design/Development 1 & 2
Draw house plans and build house models. Learn how to use industry-standard design software (Autodesk Revit) to create blueprints. This course leads to Autodesk User Certification in Revit.
Introduction to Robotics Engineering
Build and program robots to complete tasks. Use the VEX Robotics platform to learn about sensors, programming, and mechanical engineering.
Technology of Flight
Airplanes and rockets! How do they fly? Build, fly, and test model airplanes and rockets. Learn about careers in the aviation and aerospace industry.
Part of the Project Lead The Way series, this course is for students interested in a career in engineering. It may also count as a Basic Tech credit if you decide not to continue in the completer pathway. The course develops problem solving skills with emphasis on visualization and communication skills using CAD software. Topics of study include: Introduction to Design, Student Portfolio Development, Sketching & Visualization, Geometric Relationships, Modeling, Assembly Modeling, Properties of Materials, Model Documentation, Presentation, Production, and Marketing.
Coming in 2027-28
Third year CTE Capstone project course. Students in Tech Ed, Business, FACS, or Computer Science completers will learn and earn a certification in project management and complete a capstone project in their area of study.
Prerequisite: 2 Credits in Tech Ed (Tec Design 1&2, Manuf & Const, Energy, Power & Transportation)
This introductory course introduces students to the fundamental principles of media production and broadcasting, emphasizing the basics of visual composition, audio recording, and storytelling. Students explore career pathways in film, television, radio, and online media, discovering the ethical and responsible use of emerging technologies.
Building on Video and Audio Production I, students delve deeper into the production process, focusing on intermediate video editing, audio post-production, and collaborative workflow management. Students gain hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition, to edit, color grade, and master audiovisual projects.
Prerequisite: Honors Video and Audio Production I
Third year CTE Capstone project course. Students in Tech Ed, Business, FACS, or Computer Science completers will learn and earn a certification in project management and complete a capstone project in their area of study.
Prerequisite: Honors Video and Audio Production 1 and 2
