Technology & Engineering Education

Technology and Engineering Education is an applied education program that relies on project-based learning to prepare students to be technologically literate. Through participation in hands-on experiences in various technical environments, students will see the connection that exists between technology, math, science, and engineering concepts. They will also utilize the design process to effectively solve “real-world” problems. Technology education courses are both required and elective. One Basic Technology Education credit is required for graduation.

Basic Technology & engineering Courses

Engineering Design (1/2 Credit)

Build projects to solve engineering design challenges using the design process.

Practical Programming (1/2 Credit)

Build devices and program microcontrollers (Arduino) to solve real-world problems. Use sensors and motors to automate tasks.

Technology & engineering Completer Courses

Technological Design 1 & 2 (1/2 Credit Each)

Use the engineering design process to solve problems. Learn to use CAD software to create plans. Build and test solutions to design problems.

Manufacturing and Construction (1/2 Credit)

Build things! Construction covers how structures are built while manufacturing is how other goods are made. Fun hands-on projects.

Energy/Power/Transportation (1/2 Credit)

How we use energy to do work (power) and then use that to transport people and things around the world. Fun hands-on projects.

ELECTIVE Technology & Engineering Courses

Architect Design/Development  1 & 2 (1/2 Credit Each)

Draw house plans and build house models. Learn how to use industry-standard design software to create blueprints.

Introduction to Robotics Engineering (1/2 Credit)

Build and program robots to complete tasks. Use the VEX robot platform to learn about sensors, programming, and mechanical engineering.

Marine Technology (1/2 Credit)

Boats! How do they float? Design, build, and test a model boat hull. Even get your boater safety certificate! Learn about careers in the maritime industry.

Technology of Flight (1/2 Credit)

Airplanes and rockets! How do they fly? Build, fly, and test model airplanes and rocket. Learn about careers in the aerospace industry.

Interactive Media Production 1 & 2 (1/2 Credit Each)

An introduction to Graphic Design, Video Production, and Video Game creation. Learn to use the Adobe software suite.

Renovation DIY - Construction (1/2 Credit)

Use hand and power tools to build things and learn how to repair things around the house. Includes carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
