The ELD 1 course is designed with English Learners in the "entering phase" in mind. This course develops students' academic language ability with intensive support.
Prerequisites: English proficiency score of 1 to 1.5 as measured on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment or the WIDA screener assessment.

The ELD 2 course is designed with English Learners in the "emerging phase" in mind. This course develops students' ability to access grade-level content material with substantial linguistic support.
Prerequisites: English proficiency score of 1.6 to 1.9 as measured on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment or for students who have completed ELD 1.

The ELD 3 course is designed with English Learners in the "developing phase" in mind. This course develops students' ability to access grade-level content material with some linguistic support.
Prerequisites: English proficiency score of 1.9 to 2.5 as measured on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment or for students who have completed ELD 2.

The ELD 4 course is designed with English Learners in the "expanding phase" in mind. This course develops students' ability to participate in grade-level content tasks with minimal linguistic support.
Prerequisites: English proficiency score of 2.5 to 3.9 as measured on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment or for students who have completed ELD 3.

The ELD 5 course is designed with English Learners in the "bridging phase" in mind. This course refines skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Prerequisites: English proficiency score of 4 or above as measured on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment or for students who have completed ELD 4.

The ELD for Long Term Success courses are designed to support long-term English learners (LTELs) in achieving full English proficiency through advanced academic literacy skills. Students will engage in reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities that enhance their comprehension of complex texts, develop clear and structured writing, and strengthen their academic vocabulary. This course also introduces students to interpreting data to support arguments, fostering foundational skills for academic success.
Prerequisites: Level 1 is designed to support LTELs who have been in the US for 6 or more years but still have not met the state criterion for exiting the ELD program. Level 2 is designed to support LTELs who have completed Level 1 but still have not met the state criteria for exiting.

The ELD Social Studies course is a content-based language development course for students new to the U.S. Students will become familiar with the geography, history, culture, and government of the U.S.
This course should be offered concurrently with ELD 1.

The ELD Science course is a content-based language development course for students new to the US. Students will learn pre-requisite background knowledge, skills, and vocabulary necessary for success in the Environmental Science course and MISA state exam.
This course should be offered concurrently with ELD 1.

The Transitional Math course is designed to address the gaps in mathematics background for students with interrupted or limited formal education. Students will be introduced to math topics from grade 2 through Algebra in this course.
This course is recommended only for ELD students scoring below Algebra.
