AACPS Division of Advanced Studies and Programs believes strongly in providing innovative educational programs for our students. It is through offering Magnet Programs in International Baccalaureate (IB), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and APEX Arts (APEX), as part of our schools of choice, that students explore their interests, talents, and abilities in a highly specialized and rigorous instructional setting.
Magnet Programs are specialized programs at both the high school and middle school level in Anne Arundel County. Eligible students can apply based on their interests and are accepted via a lottery system. Modified transportation is provided since certain programs may not be held at students' zoned high school. The video below provides a comprehensive overview.
Different programs have different eligibility requirements. Please refer to the program outline linked to the left for specific requirements. Students meeting base requirements for programs will be sent a letter of eligibility this fall. Please contact the magnet office or Mr. Bauer with further questions. Note, eligibility differs for CAT-North programs.
The application can be accessed here once the window opens. More information regarding the application and the process is linked to the right. Note, CAT-North has an extended application window and the deadline is usually mid-March.
