This can encourage 'proof listening' to review and reflect on written work - giving students another way to check and change errors.

Implementation Strategy: Teachers can provide worksheets, assignments, and reading materials through Google Docs. Quizzes can be provided in digital format using a Google Forms. Students can use the Read&Write extension's 'play' button to listen to the text while reading. When researching topics on the web, students can highlight sections of the text and press the 'play' button to the read the web. Online curriculum can be assigned to students via Google Classroom and students can listen to the text while reading using this extension. When editing written work within Google Docs, students can read-back their written work using Text-to-Speech to prompt proper spelling and grammar.
*When working in Google slides, the functionality of Text-to-Speech features are impacted by line formatting. Encourage students to utilize the screenshot reader for Text-to-Speech within Google Slides. Consider providing a PDF copy to all students.
