From the past to the future, Yanshuei Elementary  School has grown with Yanshuei since 1898

July 1, 1898 (Meiji 31): Established Yanshui Port Branch of Chiayi National Language School, located at the current Yanshui Post Office. On October 1 of the same year, Yanshui Port Public School was founded.

April 1, 1902 (Meiji 35): Established Cha-mou Camp (now Liuying District) branch.

March 31, 1904 (Meiji 37): Held the first graduation ceremony.

September 1905 (Meiji 38): Newly built school building completed.

1908 (Meiji 41): Cha-mou Camp branch became independent and established Cha-mou Camp Public School.

March 25, 1915 (Taisho 4): Established Yizhuwei (now Yizhu Township) branch.

March 27, 1919 (Taisho 8): Established Banzai Cuo branch; on March 28 of the same year, Yizhuwei branch became independent and established Yizhuwei Public School.

April 1, 1921 (Taisho 10): Added higher level department. On May 24 of the same year, changed the name to Yanshui Public School.

March 31, 1922 (Taisho 11): Banzai Cuo branch became independent and established Banzai Cuo Public School.

April 1, 1931 (Showa 6): Established kindergarten.

April 1, 1941 (Showa 16): Renamed Yanshui East National School.

April 1, 1944 (Showa 19): Established Mitsuki branch.

February 1, 1946: Changed the school name to Yanshui Town First National School.

February 1, 1947: Renamed Yanshui National School and abolished the higher level department.

February 13, 1947: Mitsuki branch became independent and established Mitsuki National School.

1948: School organization consisted of principal, teaching staff, children's department, and civic education department with 20 classes.

1953: School organization consisted of principal, teaching staff, with education, guidance, general affairs, and research departments, with 24 classes.

August 1, 1950: Established Zengshui branch.

October 31, 1964: Established Boy Scout Troop II and formed a drum corps.

August 1, 1967: Zengshui branch became independent and established Zengshui National School.

October 25, 1967: Celebrated the 70th anniversary with the donation and inauguration ceremony of Yu Shun Hall by Mr. Wang Yu-shun, an alumni in Japan, and held a sports meeting.

August 1, 1968: Renamed Yanshui National Elementary School, implemented the nine-year compulsory education system, and allowed graduates to enter junior high school without examination. Implemented revised temporary curriculum standards for elementary schools.

August 1, 1974: Restructured school organization with the principal and education, guidance, and general affairs departments, and the curriculum, registration, student life counseling, and physical education and health groups.

September 1974: Established Children's Dental Caries Prevention Center.

January 15, 1975: Completed the reconstruction of six dangerous classrooms.

1976: Completed the demolition and reconstruction of five dangerous classrooms.

May 15, 1977: Developed and improved the national education equipment program, renovating four classrooms, building four new classrooms, and gradually updating the lighting equipment and desks and chairs.

August 1977: Implemented new curriculum standards for elementary schools.

April 3, 1982: Completion of the filling and construction of the command platform in the playground.

August 1, 1983: Established gifted class and promoted special education.

October 21, 1983: Groundbreaking ceremony for Zhongzheng Hall and Sports Hall.

June 1984: Improvement project for six-year education, remodeling two dangerous classrooms and adding one classroom.

August 20, 1984: Principal Zhao Donglin passed away due to overwork from the construction of Zhongzheng Hall and offices.

March 15, 1985: Completion and use of two remodeled dangerous classrooms and one counseling room as part of the six-year national education program.

May 1985: Completion of two natural growth classrooms.

August 1, 1985: Reconstruction of the staircase and construction of the central hall began.

August 11, 1985: Inauguration ceremony for Zhongzheng Hall and Sports Hall.

October 1985: Construction of the back school gate on Beimen Road.

September 30, 1986: Addition of two classrooms as part of the six-year national education program.

February 1987: Start of construction for one natural growth classroom.

April 3, 1987: Organized the 90th anniversary celebration and sports exhibition.

June 1987: Opening of the art classroom.

February 1989: Renovation of the front school gate on Chaoqin Road.

May 1989: Completion of the audiovisual classroom.

September 13, 1989: Typhoon Sara caused significant flooding in Yanshui Town, with water levels over one meter in some areas causing extensive damage.

April 28, 1991: Completion of the sports field improvement project and community sports meet.

October 1991: Construction of 10 classrooms completed.

March 13, 1992: Initiation of the nutrition lunch program.

May 1992: Completion of the music classroom.

August 1992: Yanshui National School girls' tennis team won the national championship and achieved championship in Japan, bringing honor to the country.

September 1995: Establishment of the computer classroom.

December 1996: Construction of the comprehensive stadium.

May 10-11, 1997: Organized the 100th anniversary celebration and the unveiling of the sculpture promoting the five disciplines.


March 22, 2000: Establishment of the resource class and procurement of equipment.

October 5, 2000: Purchase of kitchen equipment for lunch.

February 15, 2001: Completion of the tennis court restoration project.

July 16, 2001: Completion of the drainage cover and campus beautification and renovation project.

November 28, 2001: Improvement of teaching environment project.

December 28, 2001: Reconstruction of the sports field, tennis court, and surrounding facilities.

August 1, 2002: Zengshui Elementary School became Yanshui Elementary School Zengshui Branch.

January 2, 2003: Reconstruction of classroom beams, pillars, and walls after the 331 earthquake.

February 12, 2003: Replacement of curtains and stage curtains in the activity center.

October 9, 2003: Renovation of old classrooms for waterproofing.

November 5, 2003: Enhanced equipment for special education resource center in the 92 fiscal year.

July 23, 2004: Power supply expansion project in the activity center.

December 14, 2004: Improvement project for barrier-free campus environment.

December 23, 2004: Renovation of Zhongzheng Hall and installation of wooden cabinets for students.

August 17, 2005: School lunch implemented as public-private partnership.

August 2006: Closure of Zengshui Branch.

March 2008: Shrine restoration.

May 2009: Completion of the track on the playground.

October 2010: Renovation of the cultural and martial arts trail in the street corner green space.

December 2010: Completion of the new school building, Kui Bi Building.

June 2011: Completion of the library, Kui Bi Library, and English contextual teaching classroom.

June 2011: Alumni association donated for the reconstruction of the clock tower.

October 2013: Improvement of teaching environment equipment in the kindergarten.

October 2013: Renovation of independent restrooms.

May 2020: Campus wireless network subsidy from the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, installing 22 wireless base stations.

August 1, 2020: Principal Wang Hui-zu assumed the position of principal at Yanshui Elementary School.
