Essential Questions:

How do artists and designers learn from trial and error?

What role does persistence play in revisiting, refining, and developing work?

Reflection On Work:

My first prints were very simple. I used a large range of values and simple shapes in my first prints. In my later prints I experimented with more techniques to create shapes in the ink. I liked how I was able to practice and learn to understand the different colors of ink and how they worked together, my prints were more chaotic which I liked. As I continued my work, I was finding it difficult to simplify my prints like my first.

I learned how to not overuse the ink and keep to thin layers to create the best image. I also learned that using relief techniques can produce a very cool outcome instead of just layering more and more ink. I believe the textures that have consistent and repeating patterns make the best textures because if it doesn’t show up in one area of the print it still translates among the rest.

Artists put work in a series because it can creates a story. A series also shows an evolution of a group of work. I think it could be more powerful in some ways because if one piece may not connect with a viewer another may. There is more chance a viewer will be attracted to the piece if there are more of them.
