Reflection:

My biggest challenge regarding this project was combining my face with the original photo. It was difficult to use the picture to a certain extent and then switch to my own features. Another challenge I faced while doing my portrait was the precision with the india ink. The ink was so concentrated it was difficult to dilute it the correct amount.

My inspiration sprouted from my love of portrait and my infatuation with love. I love to imagine the moments my portraits take place in and the emotions involved with them. I hope when people look at my work they want to learn more about the girl and they become (even for just a moment) captivated by the image. I think I was successful in completing and reaching my goal of what I wanted the portrait to look like. I feel as though I was successful in portraying that feeling but I think it depends on the viewer's personal opinions on love and romance.

My focus artist is Marcos Beccari, my work connects to the artist because his work is very whimsical and intimate, much like many of my portraits. His work often focuses on female subjects in their homes or in their daily life. I love his work because he is incredibly talented with watercolor and achieving very detailed images with such a messy medium. I definitely learned more about how to get the tiniest details with the washes and different values of the ink. By looking at his work I was inspired by the details and light in his work which allowed my to imitate his work with the brush. There are many other things in life that parallel to this for example, learning from a professor or a distinguished professional and using their techniques to better yourself.
