1. What is the difference between the image on the right and the image on the left?
CT images are "windowed" to bring out specific structures. Different windows can be created by the CT scanner or by the radiologist at the PACS station.
The image on the right, labelled "bone windows" is optimized to evaluate the bony structures for fractures.
The image on the left, labelled "brain windows" is optimized to evaluate the brain parenchyma for hemorrhage and other soft tissue abnormalities.
