Training:

The annual In-Service training for all officers is currently underway, with this year’s topics including: Law Updates, Defensive Tactics, CPR/AED/1st aid, Fair & Impartial Policing and Eyewitness Identification.

Dispatchers Paul Oleskiewicz, Bill Jennings & Christy Lemoine received their CPR recertification, meeting the requirements of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).

Officer Shuan William attended a training on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones) use in Massachusetts, covering areas such as Illicit uses of an UAS under Massachusetts law & procedure, Public versus Civil Operation & Restricted Airspace, Local Police use of Drones and Aircraft Registration (FAA), Model Aircraft (no registration required), Areas Surrounding Airports & Sporting Events, Federal & Local Reporting of Threats to Persons or Property, Massachusetts Statutes that can presently be utilized, Full discussion of the Massachusetts Electronic Surveillance laws and Proposed Massachusetts Legislation on Police Use of Drones

Through a partnership with the State Police, K9 Officer Mike Ziemba continues to work closely with the Williamstown Elementary and Mt. Greylock Regional High Schools to instruct and practice the elements of A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate). The Williamstown Youth Center and Pine Cobble School have also received instruction on this topic.

Motor Vehicle Crashes: There were nine (9) MV crashes reported:

Parked / Parking Lot (3): Arnold St; Colonial Plaza; Hopkins Hall Drive

Roadway (5): Blair Rd (MV left roadway & struck a tree due to slick road conditions); Green River Rd (MV left roadway due to mechanical failure); Green River Rd (MV left roadway and entered river*); W. Main St (MV slid off roadway due to slick conditions); Cold Spring Rd (TT could not stop in time for a turning MV and struck from behind)
