BUILDING

Cable Mills progress meetings continue, the Building and Fire Department met with the owner and entire project team yesterday in preparation for project completion.

Highland Woods was issued a temporary 30 day CO on Friday January 30.

Plan review meetings have begun for the Science Center project.

The Ninth Edition of the State Building Code will be active as of July 1, 2016. The Commonwealth has proposed a 6 month concurrency period for code implementation.

HEALTH

Jeff attended a North Adams meeting Wednesday regarding a regional substance abuse prevention grant, and Jeff continues to work with the Berkshire Public Health Alliance on online permitting and other regional public health efforts.

LAND USE

The Planning Board met on January 26th and tabled a proposed zoning bylaw amendment to allow development of a hotel and associated site improvements at the Waubeeka Golf Links. Four other zoning amendments were forwarded to the Board of Selectmen. These are lifting a ban on bike shops in the downtown, easing rules for home occupations, easing rules for business offices, and clarifying areas of the administration and enforcement provisions of the bylaw.

The Board and Andrew also continue to work with various stakeholders on a proposed Mass Housing Partnership Grant to do in depth neighborhood housing planning in Williamstown.

The Conservation Commission met on January 28 to approve two RDAs, a new home for Bruce MacDonald on North Hoosac Road and permission to remove several large trees off of Hemlock Brook near Coyote Flaco. The Commission is also in the process of studying its special use permits for the Lowry and Burbank parcels and is considering some updates to those permits.

The Zoning Board meets Thursday the 4th to finalize plans for the Williams Science Center project.
