IXL Information

IXL is a website from the U.K. that specializes in allowing students to practice math skills by drilling them on specific concepts. This is the online equivalent of those math worksheets you may have had as a kid where you practice the same type of problem over and over again with no variation. I have linked IXL exercises to the proficiency scale so that students can use it to practice their skills, but IXL is actually a paid website which means that students have a daily practice limit that they can reach unless they pay for use of the site. In other words, when students plan on using IXL to practice a skill, they should plan to spread out their practice between multiple days and plan ahead if they would like to do it for free.

If you click on the "MATHS" tab at the top of the page, you can sort the skills by grade level or topic. As you can see below, if you sort by topic there are A LOT of skills for each topic, because they are broken down into very specific types of problems. For Algebra, there are 507 skills that students can practice.

You can also use the search bar at the top of the page to search for specific skills by keyword.
