Here you have the Tamil word, below that is the pronunciation of the Tamil word in Kannada letters. These letters are not used usually at the beginning of words. They usually come in the middle of words.

This is special sound only used in Tamil and Malayalam. When we pronounce la we touch the ceiling of our mouth. For zha we take our tongue close to the top but do not touch it. We let air pass through in the gap between the tongue and the upper part of the mouth. If you are able to pronounce this word when you say தமிழ் Thamizh , instead of saying Tamil, you will be greatly appreciated.
