All about Mrs. Potter

 

Nanette Potter, CES Title I Teacher

 

     Mrs. Potter began teaching children in 1984.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University and her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas StateUniversity.  She taught Kindergarten, first, and second grades for 22 years before becoming the Title I Teacher here at Cheney Elementary.  Her duties include:

 

       *Overseeing the Reading Express Program

       *Assisting on the student strategies team

       *Assisting on the School Improvement Team

       *Being involved in Target Time planning and implementing

       *Being available to assist teachers in intervention strategies if needed

       *Meeting with parents to explain the program and student progress

       *Staying current on best practices in reading intervention

       *Teaching intervention groups or individuals

       *Testing and diagnosing student needs to design strategies for improvement

 

     Mrs. Potter is married to Mark Potter and they have two grown children, Zechariah and Chelsey.  Zechariah graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in business and is currently a professional golfer. He married Shayla in 2012.  Chelsey graduated from Newman University with a degree in Counseling and a degree in Communications.  She is currently working for Kearney County Hospital in Lakin, Ks.  She married John Tiemeyer in 2013.
