About Mrs. Tolar

I was born in Kiowa, KS on May 26, 1968 to Butch and Barbara Amerin.  I am the oldest and have two sisters and one brother. I grew up in Plains, KS and graduated from Southwestern Heights HS in 1986.  I became a Dodge City Community College Conquistador, earning my Associate of Arts in Education and playing volleyball, basketball and track (1 year) during my two years.

I transferred to Pittsburg State University, played basketball for the Gorillas and completed my BS in Elementary Education and student taught at St. Mary's-Colgan Elementary.  I landed my first job at SMC, teaching 3rd grade for two years and 5th grade for three years.  I also coached MS basketball, HS basketball and MS/HS girls track.

I came to Cheney in 1995-96, was Fr. volleyball coach, head HS Basketball and Asst. HS track coach.  I also worked on my certification in PE at WSU at this time.  I landed the GS PE job in 96-97 and have been in that position ever since and love teaching PE to our students.  Moving to PE was great for me and my love of sports and movement.

I married Don Tolar in Dec. of 2003 and we have two boys, Drew (born on 3-24-06) and Reece (born on 9-5-07).  We love to watch sports (Gorillas, Dallas Cowboys, Royals, Chiefs, and KU Basketball) and lead active lives with our boys!
