May at a Glance

 Wow, this is it for the year! The kids are geared up for summer. I am feeling the crunch to get in them as much as I can. The focus this month will be writing , ladybugs and outside learning.

We are working on our songs and presentation for the graduation ceremony the 19th of May. The morning class graduation ceremony will be from 9:00 to 10:00 in the fine arts room. The afternoons will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 in the fine Art room. The plan is to have a short program, walk across the stage and then to the courtyard for snacks.

The program itself will only be approximately 20 minutes in length. This is a great opportunity for the kids to show off their hard work. Children will come at their normal times on that day. You are welcome to take your child after graduation or wait until the end of class.

The gains that the children have made are so encouraging. They work hard and play hard. I will have report cards and final testing ready for you the last day of school. If you have any questions I will be here until the end of May. Your child will have to do Kindergarten

screening unless I have visited with you. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your child with me this year, as always I will be sad when they go, but enjoy getting to watch them grow up.

Is Your Child Ready?

Not only do you as a parent wonder what to do, but as a teacher I ponder over this many nights and days. I watch them to see if they are making better decisions, how is their handwriting coming along, are they mature enough to do centers in kindergarten. I will give you my recommendation but know as a parent it is your decision.

I look at test results at the end of the year, the gains from the beginning to the end and how they are maturing. Can they handle situations with peers, sharing, working on their own.

Late birthdays are one red flag, but be assured I look at

the total student. If you have questions or concerns please contact me and I will do my best to answer them. If I have concerns I will contact you before the end of school.
