The Early Childhood Special Education Licensure and M.Ed. program at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities is part of a large, metropolitan university that holds status and responsibilities as a Research 1 (R1) University and a Public Land Grant University. The Special Education Program at the University of Minnesota has consistently been ranked in the top 10 of all special education programs in the country.

Program Model
Courses within the ECSE program are delivered primarily online, with students attending 1-3 classes in person on the Minneapolis campus. All courses are offered in the evening to allow students to maintain full time employment while completing course requirements. Online courses are a mix of asynchronous and synchronous work.

Credits: 35-45 (less for additional licensure candidates)
Average Months to Finish: 18-24 months

***We utilize a rolling admissions system in which applications are reviewed on a monthly basis starting on March 15. Applications submitted prior to March 15th will be reviewed during the first round. Applications submitted by April 15th will be reviewed during the second round. Applications submitted by May 15th (the final deadline) will be reviewed during the third and final round. The sooner you apply, the sooner you will hear from us!
