The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Licensure and Master of Science Program at St Cloud State University (SCSU) is one of three programs in the Child and Family Studies Department in the School of Education. It is the only program in the state in which early childhood education, parent education and early childhood special education, are combined in one department, providing a genuine early development and education focus.
SCSU ECSE students come from a variety of professional backgrounds (education, child development, family studies, psychology, social work, and community counseling) to create great combinations with the program. A variety of geographical locations are represented in our student cohorts. The diversity, both nationally and internationally, provides a rich experience base for classroom discussions, interactions, and field experiences.
The ECSE program prepares graduate level students to become professionals in both Early Intervention (EI) for infants and toddlers birth to age three, and ECSE for preschoolers ages three to six. The program has been successfully preparing students in these areas for over four decades.
