Smart Securing of Transportation Activities
NECTAR Cluster 7 is organizing a Special Session focusing on the topic “Smart Securing of Transportation Activities”. This special session aims to bring together leading researchers from Europe, the United States and elsewhere. Arrangements for publication of the papers presented are under consideration.
Topics of Interest
The terrorist attacks, that have hit several regions in the world during the last decade, have raised the interest towards transport security in a dramatic way. Governments, practitioners and scholars have tried to study, propose, and implement strategies that would foster higher security standards for both passenger and freight transport. Transportation security policies and practices need also to take into account all other dimensions of transportation activities (i.e. efficiency, reliability, profit maximization constraint, privacy etc.). It is therefore very important that transportation security activities be carried out in a smart way in order to achieve the overall optimization of such activities.
The Special Cluster7-Sessions on “Smart Securing of Transportation Activities” at the NECTAR International Conference in Ann Arbor (USA) aim to discuss and create a perspective on the state of the art in this context (e.g., methodological issues, procedures, policies, economic estimation and evaluation etc.), as well as on recent advances concerning the potential applications in a transport, communication and socio-economic context.
Topics of interest include:
methodological issues in transportation security;
technological issues in transportation security;
unimodal and multimodal transportation security procedures;
transport security policies;
transport security at hubs;
economic estimation and evaluation of transportation security policies and procedures.
Papers on other topics related to the Cluster Theme "Security" are also welcome, and there will be room for these topics in other conference sessions.
Deadline for submissions is: 5 January 2015
Abstracts should be submitted electronically using the form available here.
A copy of the abstract should also be sent to one of the organizers:
