Cluster 2: POLICY AND ENVIRONMENT

Cluster 2 of NECTAR (Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research) focuses on policy and environmental issues and is planning to organize two sessions (3 or 4 papers each) dealing with this topic at the International NECTAR Conference which will be held in Ann Arbor, MI (14-16 June 2015). The Conference will bring together leading researchers from Europe, North America and elsewhere. Arrangements for publication of the papers presented in Cluster 2 Sessions are under consideration.

Topics of Interest

In line with the general call on Smart Transport – Smart Planning our sessions will focus on the impact of expected social and demographic changes and technology developments on the sustainability of our future transportation systems, keeping in mind that equity is an important element of sustainability. Topics of interest include:

  • The contribution of advanced smart transportation technologies (autonomous vehicles, advanced control system, new forms of public transport) to sustainable transport;

  • The potential of new services, applications, and urban mobility groups (ride sharing, taxi sharing, PRT, car clubs, etc.) to shift travelers to more sustainable modes;

  • The use of new information sources including social media to promote sustainable travel behavior;

  • Social demographic changes including aging of the population and their impact on sustainable and equitable transportation planning.

Papers on other topics related to the Cluster Theme “Policy and Environment” are also welcome, and there will be room for these topics in other conference sessions.

Deadline for submissions is: 5 January 2015

Abstracts should be submitted electronically using the form located here.

A copy of the abstract should also be sent to:
