The Dynamics of Migration, Housing, and Labour Markets in Land Use and Travel Patterns
Cluster 4 of NECTAR (Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research), is planning to organize one or two sessions dealing with this topic at the International NECTAR Conference, to be held in Ann Arbor, MI (14-16 June 2015). The Conference will bring together leading researchers from Europe, North America and elsewhere.
Topics of Interest
Traveling patterns, migration, housing and labour markets are important for the overall economy and for the everyday life of many people. When studying this issue a range of different theories, modelling approaches, are involved, and an array of complex dynamic processes and endogeneity issues are at stake, both over time and space. In line with the general call on Smart Transport – Smart Planning our sessions will focus on the Dynamics of Migration, Labour Markets, and Travel Patterns. The topics of interest for the special sessions might include, but are not limited to:
What are the determinants of mobility decisions and how do they change over time and space?
Changes in regional mobility, housing choice, job-housing (im)balance, and work-related travel.
Comparisons of different methodological frameworks for modelling land use and daily travel patterns.
Spatial concentration of immigrant population, spatial mismatch, and understanding their transportation needs and solutions.
Life cycle, changes in regional mobility and sustainable mode choices
Deadline for submissions is: 5th of January 2015.
Papers on other topics related to the Cluster Theme “Travel, Migration, Housing and Labour Market” are also welcome, and there will be room for these topics in other conference sessions.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically using the form available here.
A copy of the abstract should also be sent to Selima Sultana, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA. Email: s_sultan@uncg.edu.
Notification of acceptance: 2nd February 2015
Registration, meals and accommodation for two nights will be offered to NECTAR-members, for only one author per paper. All practical details will be communicated through the Conference Website. In order to participate at the Conference, a consecutive two-year NECTAR membership is necessary.
