All GSRA and GSI students have Gradcare paid for by the department/UM.
GradCare = PremierCare (Blue Cross Blue Shield)
Can be used at all UMHS locations and other participating locations
Managed Care/Student Insurance Office at the University Health Services building on Central Campus
Annual opt-in period for upgrading care options: add vision, upgrade dental (additional cost)
Delta Dental of Michigan = University of Michigan's dental plan
Delta Dental does not issue ID cards when you enroll and you do not need a card to receive services. When you make an appointment, the dental office will ask you for your UM-ID (followed by a zero) or Social Security number to verify enrollment and coverage

When can I enroll?
There are three periods when you may enroll or make changes:
When you are a new hire or newly eligible for benefits
During the annual open enrollment period, usually in October with changes effective January 1
When you experience a qualified family status change

To enroll, follow these steps: Go to Wolverine Access > Student Business > Benefits > Benefits Enrollment
For Graduate Students with Children
Graduate students with children constitute a vibrant part of our learning community at the University of Michigan. Rackham believes in supporting graduate students with children both academically and socially. Leave of Absence
Ph.D. students may request a leave of absence when certain life events prevent continued active participation in their degree program. This is separate from Parental Leave and Vacation.
GSI and GSSAs:
Graduate Employment Organization contract (negotiations ongoing as of 2017): Medical Leave, Parental Accommodation Period, Jury or Witness Service, Immigration Proceedings, and Bereavement Leave Pay
