Portraits

We created a portrait earlier in the year using dots. Roy Lichtenstein was the artist who inspired that project. Now that our art room has changed a bit, we are going to try to create a portrait out of found materials. You will need to look for things you have on hand. I have a "junk drawer" in my house that collects things that no one knows where they belong any more. You might have one too! You may use anything for the background. You might NOT actually glue anything, you might just arrange them and then take a picture when you are finished. (Please send the picture to me so I can put it up on the virtual ART SHOW).

Please remember to ask before you begin taking things for this project AND return them when you are finished.

I hope you have fun!

This is artwork done by and artist named Ginger. (Ginger @paintbrushrocketstudio) We have been looking at lines and patterns. Her artwork has lines that look to me like roads and patterns that will the background. She uses all colors in the color wheel in this art, but you could choose a specific group of colors to use. (Warm colors - red, orange, yellow / Cool colors - blue, green, purple / Complementary colors - colors that are across from one another on the color wheel - red & green, blue & orange, yellow & purple / neutral colors - browns, tans or black and white with gray) When using a specific color group, you can also change the intensity of the color, light, medium and dark. This is easily done with colored pencils, crayons and paint.

Start your project by drawing the roads in PENCIL first. then try different backgrounds. Each space in the background could be a different patterns.
