Transition Timeline
October
Parents and students are invited to attend an 8th grade Open House highlighting clubs, activities and opportunities available at THS.
February/March
Students will receive information about the high school requirements and electives
Students will select their high school electives
High School Counselors meet with eighth grade students to review the following:
THS Program of Studies
9th grade academic requirements and electives
Student concerns regarding the transition
April/May
Information identifying student course selections and level placements are communicated home
When applicable, 8th grade transition PPT meetings will be held with middle and high school staff
THS peer leaders will meet with 8th graders
August
Schedules will be available on the Parent Portal
Freshmen orientation will be held by the Link Crew
Parents are invited to attend an evening orientation program

CP (College Preparatory)
Core course curriculum in alignment with college expectations
ACP (Advanced College Preparatory)
Core course curriculum in alignment with college expectations, featuring faster pacing and a deeper research & development of curriculum topics
H (Honors)
Designation for specific courses, program requiring advanced criteria and recommendation
AP (Advanced Placement)
Prescribed course outline geared to the AP tests and possible awarding of college credit/placement upon successful completion of the AP exam
ECE (UConn Early College Experience)
May be honors or AP, can earn college credit based upon course requirements from UConn
CCP (Housatonic College Career Pathways)
Honors designation in alignment with HCC community college curriculum expectations
